Alexsis de Raadt St. James is Founder and Managing Partner of Merian Ventures, a U.S. and European venture firm that invests in women-led innovation. She is also founder and chairman of the Althea Foundation, a social venture fund established in 2003.
Previously, de Raadt St. James held leadership roles at startups she funded or founded, as well as senior executive roles at Commerce One, Shell International, Royal Dutch Shell and Kidder, Peabody & Co. The Althea Foundation, which includes 25 health and technology ventures, has received recognition from the Metropolitan Police London, the UK Ministry of Defense and the Clinton Global Initiative Award. De Raadt St. James serves on the board of the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and the advisory board of CapLinked. She received her B.A. from the University of Texas, Austin, an M.B.A. from Erasmus University, Holland, and an M.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
